A place for scholarly and cultural exchange with Israel

The Olamot Center at Indiana University facilitates collaboration between scholars in the U.S. and Israel through our visiting scholar program, our wide-ranging event programming, and a new translation series with Indiana University Press.

Welcome from the director

The only center of its kind in the U.S., Olamot has a singular mission—to support exchange with Israeli scholars and artists.

Our visiting scholar program brings faculty from the Israeli academe to Indiana University for a varied duration, from one semester to two years, to teach and participate in IU Bloomington and the Jewish Studies Program academic community. We also sponsor the translation into English of Hebrew books by Israeli scholars through a unique series with Indiana University Press.

Through our work, we aim to strengthen ties between Israeli scholars and artists and North American academy—fostering critical conversations and supporting the diversity of perspectives within the Israeli academic community.
