Jason Mokhtarian is Associate Professor in the Department of Religious Studies and Borns Jewish Studies Program at Indiana University, where he teaches ancient Judaism. An expert in Iranian-Jewish history, Mokhtarian is the author of Rabbis, Sorcerers, Kings, and Priests: The Culture of the Talmud in Ancient Iran (University of California Press, 2015), as well as numerous articles on the Talmud in its Sasanian context. His current research projects focus on Talmudic medicine and the cultural history of the Jews of Persia from antiquity to the present.
